July 3, 2012
As of March 20, 2012, the Mobile County Board of Health has adopted the following fees for the collection of Re-Inspection Fees, Return Check Fees and Ice Cream Trucks/Vehicles Permit Application Fees.
- A $60 re-inspection fee will be accessed to establishments if a repeat inspection of a facility or unit is required, such as a follow-up inspection if legal notices are issued for critical items. Establishment owners are responsible for the fees assessed and will be required to pay all fees before July 1st of each year.
- A $30 return check/NSF fee will also be assessed for all returned checks written to the Mobile County Health Department.
- Ice Cream Trucks/Vehicles, as a “Priority Category 1,” will be assessed a $100 permit application fee.
As we continue to uphold our mission, which is to “promote, improve, and protect the health of Mobile County,” please be reminded, it is against rules and regulations to sell items from an unapproved source in accordance with the Food and Drug Administration Food Code, Chapter 3-201.11. The code states that (A) food shall be obtained from sources that comply with the law, and (B) food prepared in a private home may not be used or offered for human consumption in a food establishment. If any unapproved source items are detected for sale, resale or used by a permitted establishment, the establishment’s permit is subject to revocation and penalties for violation of the rules.
In conclusion, we want to ensure that we are assisting you with making your business the best it can be. Our inspectors spend the majority of their time educating and training to ensure that your business is successful. As we make changes to improve the operations and functions of the Food and Lodging Department, we want to hear your opinions in regards to how we can better assist you and your establishment.
