Teens Empowered through Education and Nurturing
The TEEN Center is a youth
center designed to meet the needs of today's teens. All services are free of
charge.
Walk-ins are welcome. The Center is conveniently located at the corner of Cox Street and St. Stephens Road. Just call (251) 694-3954.
Services for Pregnant and Parenting Teens:
- Pregnancy prevention education
- Prenatal - childbirth, newborn and women's health classes
- Home visits by certified staff give support and education
- GED preparation and classes
- Transportation assistance to the TEEN Center and doctor's appointments
- Individual counseling and guidance for depression and other personal or
family problems
- Child care in the HUGS room while you participate in TEEN Center
services
- Life skills classes for schools and youth groups
- Baby Bucks Room - baby gifts for clients who participate in TEEN Center programs
- Fatherhood counseling and classes
- Job preparation classes
- WIC (Women, Infants and Children) services at the TEEN Center
- Information and referrals to Medicaid and "ALL Kids" health insurance programs
- Pregnancy test information and referrals
- Family planning/birth control information and referrals
Referrals are Encouraged From:
- Churches
- Community organizations
- Child agencies
- School teachers/counselors
- School nurses
- Doctors
- Health care clinics
- Hospital emergency rooms
- MOM care coordinators
- Family/friends
Come Visit Us! Walk-ins are welcome! Call a case manager at (251) 694-3954 for a referral or appointment or come check us out at 248 Cox St. (across from USA Children's and Women's Hospital). Services are FREE!
TEEN Center Consortium
The Consortium gives guidance in the design and direction of TEEN Center programs. The mission of the Consortium is to improve the health of mothers and children and reduce infant deaths and low birth weight babies born in Mobile County. Members of the Consortium are users of the services, community residents, and representatives of community agencies and health clinics.
